A one page minicomic for Havaneres, the new fanzine by the nice illustration collective Tropèl.
It’s about a beautiful spanish sea song, “La Bella Lola”, I tried to translate it for you English people keeping the double meaning of some words, sorry if the translation is funny, too poor or something.
Beautiful Lola | La Bella Lola
After a year without seeing land
because war wouldn’t let me
I got to the port where there was
the girl who my heart adored.
Oh, such pleasure! I felt,
when from the shore
she took her handkerchief and waved at me.
But after that she got closer to me
she embraced me and in that hug
I felt like dying.
When beautiful Lola is on the beach
showing her floating dress/fish tail,
the sailors become crazy,
and even the captain loses the compass/beat.
The little cuban girl was crying sad
seeing herself alone in the high seas
and the sailor comforted her
don’t cry Lola, you won’t drown/choke.
